Our company is an inclusive and welcoming workplace, according to America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people.
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation recently released its 2021 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies, practices and benefits pertinent to LGBTQ employees. This year we scored 85 out of a possible 100 points, a noteworthy increase from our previous score of 20 on last year’s report.
“As an organization, we are focused on building and nurturing a diverse and inclusive workforce where people are trusted and valued to be their best, most authentic selves,” said Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer Michelle Hairston. “Our score speaks to the work we have done to evaluate and enhance our policies, training and benefits programs over the last year, and we will continue to focus on progressing in our mission to be an inclusive, equitable and supportive workplace for all.”
Some examples of our LGBTQ inclusive initiatives include identical benefit plans offered to both different- and same-sex couples, health insurance and leave benefits to cover medically-necessary treatment of gender dysphoria, and the continued refining of inclusion and diversity training materials.
“It’s important to note our inclusion and diversity initiatives expand beyond our LGBTQ employees,” said Hairston. “Last year we launched the Diversity Board, with a focus on recruiting more diversity at all levels of the organization, ongoing training and education opportunities for employees on inclusion and equity, and mentoring/developing minority leaders within the company.”
