Think of all the things you can buy online these days. From clothing to concert tickets to cars, the list of items available for purchase online is long. And now you can add one more thing to that list: a brand-new home.

We recently launched our Transact Home Online program which gives buyers the ability to complete the entire home purchase process online in just a few clicks, without ever setting foot in a community.

While our buyers have been able to use a variety of digital tools for several years now, such as interactive floor plans and 3D model tours, to envision what their dream home could look like, the final steps of buying a home required a visit to a sales center. Not anymore. Now they can choose their lot, configure interior and exterior options, put down a deposit and begin the financing process securely from the comfort of their own home. (Edited to add: Once complete, the buyer will be assigned a sales consultant who will guide them through the new home’s completion and closing on the purchase.)

Transact Home Online is currently only available at select Centex communities in Houston and Raleigh, but nearly 100 additional communities are expected to be added by the end of 2022.

  1. Curious Sales Member

Seems a bit shortsighted. I’d hope this is a tool in support of the sales staff and not a replacement of the sales staff. Interesting concept for the start of a transaction, but what’s the plan for backlog management, the face to face customer interaction during construction w/ the sales team, even continuous engagement with buyers during the build process when they need someone to talk to during their build, etc.? Unless the plan is to convert the sales team into a 100% customer service based department, it’s hard for me to imagine this ever succeeding on a large scale when buyers require consistent “real” human engagement during the purchase process of their “real” estate transaction.

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Transact Home Online isn’t meant to replace or eliminate the opportunity for a physical experience in buying a home. It’s a step forward in meeting consumers’ expectations on how they shop and make decisions online using virtual tools. Once a buyer has completed the purchase agreement online, they’ll be assigned a sales consultant who will guide them through the new home’s completion and closing on the purchase, so they will have a dedicated contact they can engage with when they have questions or concerns.

  2. I would much rather prefer an online portal with full customization options and in control of everything without having to consult a sales rep.
