Environmentally Friendly Zero Net Energy Prototype Working to Erase Carbon Footprint
As many of you know, the Northern California Division and Corporate Procurement have been leading the charge on an exciting PulteGroup initiative of building a Zero Net Energy (ZNE) home prototype. This home is at the forefront of innovation and has been designed to generate as much energy as it uses during the course of a year.

Located in Pulte’s Botanica community in Brentwood, the new home prototype was unveiled in June, and will then be monitored for 12 months after it is sold to evaluate its performance and to identify opportunities for future best practices.
This ZNE prototype not only reflects the Company’s commitment to building energy efficient homes, but also aligns with California’s long-term goal of achieving zero net energy building standards for all new homes by 2020.
PulteGroup’s goal for this prototype is to help define the most efficient path to building more energy efficient homes that effectively balance constructability, cost and quality.
The home’s design combines airtight building methods, highly efficient insulation, HVAC, lighting technologies and more, with on-site solar energy production to offset the home’s greatly reduced energy consumption.
Thank you to all of those involved in this innovative project, as PulteGroup does its part to reduce the carbon footprint, while continuing to build beautiful and quality new homes for families to enjoy.
